Third in the series: Richthofen's third aerial victory was on Sept 30, 1916. Around Noon on that day, the Baron's Staffel attacked 4 British planes over Lagincourt, France.  Richthofen singled in on a FE.2b and fired over 200 rounds. The British plane piloted by Lt. Ernest Conway  Lansdale and his gunner Sgt. Albert Clarkson spiraled down to the earth killing both occupants.  The cause of death of the British Airmen  was either gunshot wounds,  immolation, or trauma caused by their aircraft crashing near Fremicourt.
