Manfred von Richthofen, encountered Sgt. Herbert Bellerby and his squadron flying Martinsyde's G100's over Bapaume, France on September 23,1916. Richthofen fired over 300 rounds causing Sgt. Bellerby to make a hard landing, which overturned his plane. Bellerby died of wounds. He went down near Beugny and was buried in a grave that was lost during the turmoil of war.
