Finished painting of the battle for Ludendorff bridge, Remagen 1945. Oil on canvas 760x510mm. After the US Army captured the only bridge still standing across the river Rhine, after the German Army failed to destroy it. Hitler sent the Luftwaffe to destroy the bridge. This was the first time that the Luftwaffe used solely jets after the heavy defence of the US army caused high casualties when they used the conventional bombers. The bridge was never hit and eventually collapsed after two weeks of use by the US Army.
