What are everybody’s favourite Aviation Magazines? I thought this is an interesting topic for discussion. Personally, I like reading FlyPast and Aeroplane Magazine.

I am also very keen about looking through the French and German language magazines Avions and Jet & Prop. I love the covers of Avions, I would be nice to know who the illustrator is – if anybody knows? I also wish there where English language versions of these two magazines, I think they would do very well in the English language market place.

It certainly would make it easier than scanning the pages, putting it through an OCR Program and then copying & pasting the text into Google Translate. Its quite a process just to read a single article.

I don’t subscribe to any, just have a browse in my local W.H.Smiths and buy on impulse if the contents grab me:

‘Flypast’ and ‘Britain at War’ are my main regulars
‘Aeroplane’ maybe two/three times a year (most likely ‘Specials’)

‘Aviation Classics’ is worthy of the extra bit of cash.

I also may treat myself to one of the ‘Flypast’ Specials which they release occasionally.

After retirement I can only ‘treat’ myself to the occasional ‘Combat Aircraft’ and the aforementioned ‘Aviation Classics.’ 🙄

My favorites are:

1. Aviation History

2. Flight Journal

3. EAA Warbirds

I like FlyPast as well, but it is pricey to get it here in the States.
