Richard Taylor has listed three new prints in less than six weeks. I wish we received this many new prints on this kind of time schedule Laughing .Here is number three and although it is not aviation art it is from an aviation artist and subject of WWII.

As much as I like his aviation prints, and I am really happy to see more WWII stories being expressed in prints, this one really does not do a whole lot for me. Don't get me wrong, sure I would like to have the signatures, but the 'love' for this piece I just don't see. Didn't RT1 do a print similar to this a couple of years ago? Then again it may just be me, look at the subject matter you have to work with. Would be interested to hear what anyone else thinks.

Hey - whatever works. It looks like a student painting to me. I dislike the lack of consistancy with this artist but he is a very talented young man and I am sure he is having to "dance" with MG. when he is "on" - terrific!

I'll give MG credit for thinking outside the box on this one! This is a real risk. I won't even venture a guess as to the level of interest in this subject.

This is a very interesting move for MG & RT2; they have done two other POW issues in the past by NT; "The Great Escape" & "Colditz - Under New Management". Aces High shows them all "POA" / sold out...

RT2 is clearly the "experimental test pilot" for MG IMO. The Tribute Edition will probably be considered by some - but it is definitely a different theme for publishing. Unique for sure.

What can be next from RT2?

(On another note - Valor Studios is now taking orders for a new Matt Hall image "Guadalcanal Marine" - as a signed print or signed book/print combo by veteran PFC. Sid Phillips whose book is "You'll be Sor-ree". Clearly they planned ahead to ride the "Pacific" HBO series. Perhaps we'll see more images of soldiers or armor by aviation artists?)

This is an interesting one. I do have an interest in all things military (especially aviation) and have been facinated by the Great Escape story, but don't think I would buy this print. Nothing against the painting, but it's just not my thing. RT2 is realy pumping out the prints this year. What's going on with RT1?

I like it , it has an atmospehere about it, and I think this is truely RT2 coming out in a different style.

The NT print limited ed (76) sold out and I have been offered silly money for mine over the last couple of years. I think these will do well.

I am a fan of RT2 pencil work more than his painting, but this for me sits nicely in the middle. There are some pencil releases coming out with this that I do really like.

JC,

I wouldn't be surprised if RT1 is working on a BoB 70th anniversary trilogy. That could explain the long time without a release. Just a guess.

This thread moved to the "Non-Aviation Art Showcase" section. I think it will make it easier to find in the future.

Hi Fuzzy,

Wouldn't be surprised, but I can't remember a time when it's taken RT1 so long to release a print. RT2 and Anthony Saunders from the same MG/AH stable have already released prints in 2010. Is RT1 starting to put the brakes on the quantity of releases, or will there be a flood of prints during 2010? Thinking

JC,

I think the first BoB trilogy (1990) was released as a set. That's before I was collecting, but there is one brochure with all 3 prints in it, so I'm assuming they were all released at once.

I can't remember if that was the case for the 2nd BoB trilogy (2000). Maybe someone remembers.

I'm just guessing we haven't seen something from RT1 for so long because he's working on 3 paintings BoB paintings that will be released all at once. Total guess on my part. I have no insight into what's really going on.

Tribute Edition gone and Escapers Edition low inventory after a couple of days. This one seems to have quite a bit of appeal.

Glad to see Military Gallery take a risk on a fresh subject and collectors respond positively.

Escapers Edition is now listed as "Very Low Inventory"; truly a bold move that seems to be paying off.

Perhaps more ground scenes, armor, etc from RT2?

hello - I knew you would have to get in quick when this came up due to the low numbers and fresh idea - nearly did it - but not quite - Im an aviation guy at heart but a cracking idea well executed in my opinion. With regards to Robert I feel its like buses at the moment - we are all waiting but I feel several will turn up at once. Though my sources suggest dont expect a Rall trilogy but IMHO a surpise issue which he has been working on along side the normal paintings which is due shortly. I play the game of watching Aces high website and seeing which signers are coming up in the month ahead. I try to anticipate which of there artists will provide an image for each event. I see Veryn Lynn is due at the month end - perhaps our wait may be over?
