Great prints with awesome signatures. A Remarque is a Remarque. The old smaller ones compared to some of today’s margin-width remind me that sometimes its more enjoyable to listen to a 3 piece garage band than a 200 piece orchestra.

The vintage King’s Crown RAF wings will look awesomely great framed with these prints.

Those are really nice remarques and very special prints Kurt.  Nice score, sometimes the hunt and capture are the best part of collecting.  I also like the epic remarques of today but these older and more basic ones are what I grew up with and will always be some of my favorites.

Thanks for the comments guys.  It’s great to get the perspectives of other people interested in aviation art.

Here is another nice one.  This remarque is the most finely textured drawing I’ve ever seen on a print.  It’s a small masterpiece.  I wish you could all see it in person, but these pics are the best I can do.  The scene is based on Saburo Sakai’s description of this event in his book “Samurai”.

That’s an incredible drawing Kurt!  The detail is amazing, right down two the parachuting crewmen.

That’s a beauty Kurt!  My opinion, John Shaw does the best remarques in a close competition with RT, his son and Nick Trudgian.  Did you pick this up from someone or have John do it and ship directly to you?  I only have one Shaw remarque but love to own another, perhaps on an older print.  I have heard that he is willing to do that.

Drew – I got this directly from John.  Pretty much every Shaw remarque I have came directly from John.  In a number of cases, I did find a secondary market print and send it to him for a remarque.  I did pick up a couple of his old prints that already had remarques.

John recently released paper prints of “No Sake Tonight”, so that’s also a good candidate for a remarque.

Wanted something a little different from an Me-109 remarque to go along with the print, so I asked for Rall’s FW-190D as depicted in “Swansong”.  I really like how this one turned out.

Looks great and great you had some input into the finished work. Remarque’s to me have always seemed odd when they are just a copy of the subject matter in the print but here you chose to connect the Remarque to the person. I had Jim Laurier do a F104 on his Rall print High Tide of Summer for me. Some people might not get the connection but the contrast between print and Remarque is very interesting.as is including a FW190 in a BF109 print.

Thanks robert352!  I’ve found that Military Gallery has been good about inputs for a remarque.  I don’t think there are any guarantees about what you will get, but if you provide a reasonable photo, they’ll try to get that for you.  I think the artist does have final say, though.

I don’t mind a remarque of the print subject.  Sometimes, though, I’d like something a little different.  This was an example.  I like the 109, but the FW-109D is a favorite of mine.  I have always loved Robert’s depiction of it in “Swansong” (the drawing is actually the background 190D, which I thought would fit better as a single remarque).  So, I thought it would be cool to put Robert’s “Swansong” 190D on this print featuring Rall.

The other thing I like is to remarque an opponent, as done in John Shaw’s “The Fought With What They Had”.  I suspect the artists may like doing these atypical remarques, as it gives them a break from drawing 25 straight Me-109s!

Very nice collection of RT1 remarques.  Were they all done recently?

I’m most partial to the “Midwinter Dawn” Johnnie Johnson Spitfire remarque.  Nice 3D effect – looks like that Spitfire is about to fly right out of the paper!

It’s also nice to have a remarqued copy of “Midwinter Dawn”.  It’s kind of rare for recent releases to sell out quickly these days, but I noticed that Military Gallery lists “Midwinter Dawn” as all sold out now.

Thank you Simon and Fuzzy, I feel encouraged to post some more. I’ll try and give you a pic of the whole print Fuzzy, the remarque complements the image beautifully. Midwinter is one of those prints that you fall in love with when seen in the flesh. I like the ‘coloured clouds’ and I’m hoping that ‘The Final Show’ has the same effect, they should sit nicely together.

I’ve had these for a few years, I tend to send prints that were not issued as remarque editions for commission but they do charge more for the privilege!, on the other hand, I think that RT appreciates the change and makes a special effort. Yes Simon, the 111 is an unusual subject, I was expecting a Hurricane but never ask for anything other than ‘in flight’ or ‘on the ground’, he can best decide what fits the limited space. My personal favourite is ‘Caught On The Surface’, the way Robert can craft an image between the clutter of signatures never ceases to amaze. Here’s another example…

Cheers for now, Mark.

Brilliant new additions! thumbsup

How do you frame these double remarques? Can you share some photos of those you have already framed up?

whistleThat’s embarrassing, I only have the one done so far but they will all follow the same style. The matting is to the yellow border top and sides and the whole of the handling area at the bottom. I don’t like step ups or downs, nor am I keen on signature windows. I hope these pics show it clearly, there were too many reflections hanging on the wall.

Awesome Robert Taylor remarques, as usual!
