“remarque”….”double remarque” and now “expanded single picture remarque” πŸ˜• a new one for me too!

I think a well done small remarque can defineatly enhance a print, far more so than too many signatures IMHO.
Where I do have a problem with remarques is when they are too big to stay within the print border, as with RThasemptiedmywallet example above and on page 1 fuzzy’s 3 examples (Hurricane Scramble, Fourth fighter patrol and Doolittle’s D-Day). Again IMHO it just cuts the drawing in two with the different colour background. I can’t imagine how the print could ever be mounted and framed?

Was it something you requested or does that come as standard for an RT Double Remarque? πŸ˜•

it was want i wanted, a larger single remarque rather than two smaller ones.

Thanks for clearing that up πŸ™‚

Have you framed this print up yet? Just wondering how it’d look framed, with the large remarque straddling the beige and white borders :think

If so, would you mind posting a photo of it here for our benefit? πŸ™‚

Heres another RT remarque, this time a great example of a Beaufighter on “STRIKE & STRIKE AGAIN”.

I want to fill a few more empty spaces with some more Bomber Command signatures, then i will look at getting it framed. My Richard Taylor double sized remarques have been framed so i will post a picture of them, this will give you an idea as like Roberts remarques they go beyond the border.

From what I’ve been told, the idea behind the remarque extending beyond the signature area into the white is so that it can be highlighted when framed. Typically, there is a cut-out in the bottom mat that goes around the remarque. This makes the remarque stand out more than if it’s confined only to the signature area. Also, it allows the artist to make a bigger drawing. The ones confined to the signature area sometimes look a little cramped.

Heres a couple of examples of what a large remarque which expands the border looks like when its been framed….

Maybe then, the publisher (MG in this case) should increase the cream/yellow border on the 25 prints that are set aside for remarqueing. I do think the “cut-out” in the matt looks OK, it’s the two different colours slicing through the drawing that detracts for me.

All off the remarques that i have by NT are soley drawn on the inner border, but all my Robert/Richard Taylor remarques encouch outside this inner border like the examples i have posted and i dont mind this at all as long as its a great drawing.
If you have a look at the Ramraiders FW190 remarque you will notice that Richard has used some form of white colouring on the propeller boss and again on the band around the rear fuselage which i think is very clever.

I’ve seen some Robert Taylor remarques confined to the signature area. He does them both ways, probably based on customer preference.

I have mixed feelings. I do like the single-color background when the drawing is only in the signature area. On the other hand, as I’ve said before, some of those drawings look a little cramped. Expanding into the white usually allows for a better sketch.

I think the two Richard Taylor remarques shown above illustrate that point. You’re not going to get a drawing like that 190 stuffed into the signature area.

It would be nice if they had paper with a larger signature area – great idea Daz. Unfortunately, that’s probably a cost increase they won’t bear.

IMHO I think those Remarques look outstanding 😎

The two tone running between the Remarques, I think does not distract at all from them. I enjoyed the Dual Victory print with remarque so much that I just ordered one for myself. The way it is framed is great and the print and Remarque really stand out.GOOD JOB

Cheers Peter

Both of those prints look awesome. The matting framing job is top notch and the remarques are super. I have Typhoon Scramble and Coastal Patrol from Richard Taylor his stuff is nice.

well done

I am very, very impressed with Richard’s remarques – they are fantastic! :twothumbsup

I think they are even better than his dad’s. They look more solid and have more depth as they are darker and are more “filled in” than other remarques I have seen.

this seems to be the buzz and since you can still (I think) pick up remarques of several of his prints taking the plunge seems a good idea

dual victory and ramraiders both impress me a lot just based on the small photo in the remarque thread, and both prints look awesome framed up

anyone else thinking about grabbing one of his remarques?
