“The Baron’s Last Sunset”
18×36”, oil on linen

On the evening of April 20, 1918 Manfred von Richthofen, better known as “The Red Baron”, would bag two Sopwith Camels for his 79th and 80th kills.
The following day, Sunday, April 21, von Richthofen failed to return from his last mission. Shot down by Australian ground fire, he managed to crash-land his red bird before succumbing to his fatal wound. Baron Manfred von Richthofen was the all-time leading ace of the First Air War.
Thanks. No, this one was for sale. A collector made the decision to buy it this morning.
I post my paintings on my personal Facebook page and also on my FB aviation art page.
