well that was an amazing experience have an opening for ones paintings. I had about 100 people turn up including the CEO of the Hawke’s Bay Art Gallery (the main Gallery in HB) who now wants me to put on an exhibition later this year in her gallery.
Also turning up were five ww2 veterans from RNZAF. One of the paintings was the MAx Collett paint which he lent me the painting of his spitfire “Waipawa Special” which he showed off and talked about with tears running down his checks, he was so proud that I had done an A4 sheet with the painting giving his history of his time during the war.
Things I learned have some else taking photos as I did not take any during the evening. I was to busy talking to people and answering questions. Didn’t even get a chance to drink much wine myself.
I got two commissions from the evening but so far no sales. In saying that the whole venture was to get exposure and my name out there. I had the local news paper there for a piece they are putting in on Wednesday about my exhibition so that helps with the exposure and may be they took some photos I can get.
Well thats about it as a report back to everyone the exhibition runs for two weeks so you never know what may come out of it but I am one very happy person to night.
