I like this one too. At least it's a bit different to the other paintings he has done. The colours are good and the German soldiers on the dam wall is a good edition.

I'm a big fan of this one too, but not enough to buy as I already have a 'Bomb Away' Publisher's Proof edition so I think I have this mission covered for now! Didn't Hoppy's bomb bounce over the dam and hit the pump house? That would explain the raging inferno off to the right of the image.

I just the love the way RT1 does fire and mayhem too, you can feel the heat from here.

I really like this image, even with the quirky format. It's not quite the first time around for "Last Moments of the Mohne Dam" - the last time it was done as pencil print for "The Dambusters Portfolio Edition" of "Operation Chastise", but only 50 lucky people in the world get to see it. Wish I was one of them!

Any how, even though Collectors phot isnt strait on it somehow looks much better (richer) in contrast

What i was going to ask earlier was it says the painting was done a while ago & i take it collector is the owner ?

if so......were you told it was going to be in print when you bought it ?

This is a rare deviation from the landscape format for RT. The only other "square" format print I remember was "Spitfires Over St. Michael's Mount". The only portrait format print I remember was "Sigh of the Merlin".

I agree, as that was my first thought too; I thought fuzzy had cropped the image.

Still, I like it. Its different, especially with the German soldiers, looking on in amazement and probably disbelief at the RAF's audacity and the pilots' bravery.

Wow - the original painting! Spectacular!

So, when Peter Jackson's movie comes out, will we be seeing movie posters with this image on them? That would be cool.

I'm guessing the painting is on the floor so you could get a good photo of it. I hope it's got a place of honor on your wall the rest of the time.

Its beautifully painted, but I don't get it - what is supposed to be burning on the right? It couldn't be the previous bomb, or Hopgood's Lanc.

I do love this image - it reminds me of the style of operation chastise in what I call old school - I also love this shape - for interest the original painting just happens to be the size of a regular film poster which is displayed in cinemas- with the cast list added under Neath of course- now I wonder who might use that?
