One of my favorite artists is Darryl Legg, who hails from Colesberg, the Republic of South Africa.  He is popular with a number of eHangar members, and you’ll see his paintings pop up on several different threads here.  In fact, eight of his paintings were entered into Fuzzy’s “Top 10 Aviation Aviation Art Originals of 2013” thread in the Collecting Aviation Art section of eHangar.  I’ve been collecting Darryl’s paintings since 2007, and I thought it would be nice to set up a thread dedicated to his artwork so it could be viewed at one location, as opposed to being scattered around the website.  So folks, if you own or admire the work of Darryl Legg, I encourage you to add images of your favorite paintings by him to this thread.  Thanks much!

Let me start the thread with the first aviation paintings I purchased from Darryl:

I can see why discerning collectors go for Darryl’s work . The quality stands out , clearly someone who knows and loves his subjects and their environment . The Typhoon looks almost 3D . I feel like reaching in and tapping the metal skin of that near wing .

Thanks much NeilF, and I completely agree.  The Typhoon painting in particular has a certain realism to it that makes it jump out at you.  Here’s another painting by Mr. Legg called “Mavis Down”, which depicts a Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat and a Kawanishi H6K Mavis:

These are some beauties Daz, thanks for adding them (and I think Darryl’s talent has been “public knowledge” for years now!).

Wow Guss – awesome paintings!

Early Navy jets are fantastic.  The Skyray is a favorite of mine.  The Cutlass is never going to win any beauty contests, but it sure is interesting.  Panther & Skyhawk are great too.  Darryl sure does superb work!

Hopefully you’ll be doing some more.  Cougar & Tiger pop in to mind off the top of my head.

Gus,

Great series of jets!  I’ve always liked the lines of the Cougar & the Tiger.  There’s a new 1/48 kit of the Cougar by Kitty Hawk.  That fills a big void in the model world.  Still waiting for a new Tiger kit.

Wow, he is seriously talented. Hard to believe I havnt seen his work before. I would love to own his Douglas Dauntless, my favorite aircraft. His work reminds me of RG Smith, except with light, and color!

A  true  master  of  colour  and  atmosphere .  Few    artists  have  the  ability  to   ring  the  bell  each  time   you  see  one  of  their  works  but  he  does. Fine  tributes  to  the  aircraft  he  selects .
