Anyone know if progress has been made towards getting a Dietz WWI aviation book published? I have been thinking about this one for a long time.
Pre-Ordering a double-remarqued copy would certainly be something I would do.
His work is so beautiful, it really deserves to be published in a book. I really wish more of his WWI art was available in print form.
I did get lucky to pick up these two as a matching pair recently.
OK here is my other $64 question. Does anyone have a fair idea of which of Jims WWI prints also had remarque runs? All of em? Were remarques only available as a custom order situation. Frankly I have not been able to find any available for sale (been looking for a darn long time). Everyone knows I am nuts about remarques, but being shut out on this one needs to be fixed. Also what kind of price are we talking? Are they reasonable? moderate or crazy expensive?

Bonne Chance and CestlGuerre matching #’s pair.
So adding them to my modest Dietz WWI collection which also includes
Gone West and Last Word

I will e-mail Jim and ask about some options for remarques.
My questions still stand if anyone wants to take a crack.

thanx guys

For posterity here is the original of ‘C’est La Guerre’. This beautiful painting hangs in the dining room of Jim’s house. 🙂

I have the print and the matching Bonne Chance. Hard to find prints and long sold out so I am not complaining.

But……….wow the original is beyond beautiful. I know its not an aviation only painting, but honestly that is as gorgeous a piece of art as I have ever seen. In person it must really be special.

Not the greatest view I know, due to the way it is presented in PJ’s memorabilia collection at the museum… but I’d forgotten that the original of this famous Dietz painting needed to be displayed here in the gallery.

I know I would pre-pay for a double-remarqued version to help the ball rolling…….sigh such gorgeous art.

Heh, heh. Wouldn’t we all? I know of several of my earlier works that I’d like to take another crack at.

Mud in Your Eye is a gorgeous piece, and i know of one forum member here that deeply regrets ever parting ways with it!

Jim,

Any chance you might release a reproduction of “Yanks Mount Up” (print, giclee, canvas…)? It’s such a wonderful piece – too wonderful to have never been reproduced. I think there would be many who would love the chance to display it. Besides, you’ve been so busy with the ground stuff, it’s been a long-long time since us aviation fans have been treated to one of your WW1 pieces!

Hi Fuzzy;
Well, anyone dumb enough to part with “Mud In Your Eye,” is probably dumb enough to part with the unique Museum copy of “Yanks Mount Up.” :crazy2
There are some details of this one on page 7 of this thread . It cost a small fortune, because of the method, and is beautifully framed, as well.
It is one of only a dozen pieces that are hanging on the walls here. (out of some 300 MOSTLY originals! in the racks! )And of the remaining eleven, two others are Dietz original oils, and one is a print of “Gone West.” Even though it is not an original. it is still stunning, for all the little details, and I almost always pause to admire, when I pass it. But it has been hanging there for some 6/7 years and replacing it wih something fresh from the racks might be interesting. I’m open to offers or contact about it.

Things are slow as a last place turtle-I hope we can kindle some of the old enthusiasm and get a lot of collectors to contribute.

My collection is nothing like a lot of guys here but I love it and proudly show it off.

Thanks Patrick for your post contribution here and elsewhere to keep the discussions alive! smile2

Things are slow in general. I feel, in the aviation art world, and the depressed world economy may also be a factor.

Its always nice to get a new post notification and I come in to read both the old and new comments and see the art anew, even after so many years.pilotfly

It’s great to see you back Pat – I look forward to seeing your posts!  It would be nice to see more activity on eHangar again.  It’s still the world’s best repository of aviation art, and Sunny has done an outstanding job keeping the content intact as he’s updated the site.
